ABSTRACT:

NEUROsuite is a new concept of teaching and studying the morphology of the brain. On the computer and in the dissection room a unique visualizing model is used to provide a complete set of teaching and learning material for teachers and students.

The content of NEUROsuite concentrates on the topographical anatomy and morphology, the functional systems, the ventricular system and the vessels of the human central nervous system. The same consistent structure of content is used in all parts of NEUROsuite.

NEUROsuite is going to be used mainly by the teaching staff of universities, but some parts can also be used by high school teachers and teachers in nursing schools. Because of the standardized visualization the material are easily recognized in the different parts of NEUROsuite and therefore facilitate the transfer and memorization of knowledge. The concept can be easily applied to other fields.

NEUROsuite consists of three major parts utilizing mostly the same materials:

1. The NEUROteacher (DVD-ROM, Server)

Labeled 3D models and animations help teachers in teaching the complex spatial structure and the basic functions of the human brain. Professor scan organize material into lectures and present them on the computer. Standard lectures are provided on the DVD and may be used as templates for creating customized lectures and courses. The individually prepared lectures are stored in a central archive and can be worked through by the students.

2. The NEUROtrainer (CD)

The CNStrainer is a pure learning application. Students are quizzed on the material which is used by the NEUROtables (see 3.) and the NEUROteacher. The control of parameters for the type of quiz, the scope of termini and the level of termini is very flexible an allows efficient and motivating learning. The learning progress is recorded, displayed and can be stored in separate files.

3. The NEUROtables (charts)

10 anatomical charts show the most important structures and functions of the human central nervous system. The charts are used in dissecting courses present a link between the real structures of the corpse and the images of the learning materials. They are closely linked and related to other material used in NEUROsuite.

BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:

Detailed 3D models and animations of the human CNS in excellent quality are presented. A new approach to setting up presentations for lectures is shown.
