Clinical Cases on Computers. Can computer simulated patients provide effective teaching or training?

Issues to be discussed are design aspects including:
-Cumbersome and frustrating navigation.
-Difficulty in delivering on the www
-Cost to create versus acceptance and use
-Evaluation evidence
-Lack of personal interaction with mentor or patient
Discussion will also focus on where they are most appropriately used in training: preclinical, during clinical training post training or continuing education.
Participants experiences or evidence collected will greatly add to the discussion.
BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:
The attendees will focus on the possible advantages and disadvantages of computer-aided case simulations and be better able to judge if, when, and where their use is most beneficial, accepted, or useful.
