ABSTRACT:
Incongruent projected demand and actual utilization of online material frequently results from little inquiry into student preference. In a survey of medical students, qualitative responses indicated format influences perception of contribution to learning, and that online resources are preferred over class notes or library holdings. A majority of learners identified demand for on-campus access during evenings and night; fast reliable access from residence is desirable, but institution resources must also bolster availability of campus-based hardware and connectivity to meet student needs.
BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:
Participants will discover that it does not matter what you do, if you ignore the target audience. Discussion is focused on medical student utilization of online and traditional educational formats, and implications for resource planning.
