The objective of the project Virtual Interactive Periodontology has been to develop and evaluate a European networked interactive curriculum in periodontology for undergraduate students of Oral Health Sciences. The objective was also to provide learning using the educational method of problem-based learning and to offer interactive communication with resource persons freely available on the Internet using email and other communication facilities. Two workshops in Virtual Interactive Periodontology have been organized during the project. At the workshops learning objectives, document design, evaluation, and updating procedures for the multimedia documents were  discussed. Participants in the workshops have been resource persons in Periodontology and education. The workshops resulted in guidelines for multimedia documents on the Internet. Websites harbouring multimedia have been created on servers in Copenhagen, Bern and Malmö. The demonstrations will include a CD-ROM as well as Websites with learning material structured for use by the public, students and professionals. Further, interactive learning scripts used over the Internet for learning online will be demonstrated. During the demonstrations quality criteria for interactive learning documents and communication principles over Internet will be discussed. The project has been supported by a grant from the Council for Higher Education, National Agency for Higher Education, Stockholm, Sweden.

The demo will highlight tuse of interactive scripts for learning online and how teachers and students in any subject can use the script functions. The use of a CD-ROM interactive with Internet documents for learning.
