ABSTRACT:

Anatomy Revealed is an interactive, multimedia, software series that applies an interdisciplinary approach to the study of human gross anatomy. Each region is presented in a manner that allows the user to progress through a series of layers of dissection. Each presentation is based on actual anatomical dissections. Progression from superficial to deep, or in reverse, is accomplished through the use of "sliders" which create transparency from one layer to the next. Relationships can be appreciated easily as structures such as blood vessels course through a region of study. Through the use of morphing, selected muscle actions can be appreciated. Specific structures can be selected and highlighted.

Standard imaging modalities are correlated to the anatomy for each region.Actual clinical cases are used to emphasize applied anatomy. A self-evaluation exercise is included for each region. This presentation will include recently completed sections for the orbit, temporal and intratemporal fossae (including the temporomandibular joint), nasal andoral cavities and the base of the skull (including the cranial nerves).

BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:

Participants will have the opportunity to appreciate a unique method for the study of human gross anatomy. A technique to "melt away" layers of tissue creates the ability to see detailed relationships in actual anatomical preparations. This software also contains case studies to emphasize clinical applications of anatomy as well as imaging (CT, MRI,X-ray) and a self-test.
