ABSTRACT:

You would like to create Computer-based Teaching-Cases in a short period of time? You do not have programming capabilities? Then visit this pre-workshop.We will familiarize you with the ease of handling the CASUS Authoring System. We will teach you in only one day how to put real multimedia cases together. After this workshop you will be able to create all by yourself virtual patients with their authentic story of a disease and its¥ therapy. But CASUS can do more than that for you and your students. The Finding-Matrix-Tool helps you to write the storyboard on the fly. You are didactically supported by the program. You can emphasize special learning entities by asking crucial questions with a big variety of question patterns, including multiple choice, underline questions and even free text answers. As soon as you decide the case to be ready, you can immediately offer it via the Internet to your students or present it in your lectures or courses. And still you can change the content quickly and re-adjust it to the actual scientific results any time.

CASUS has been carefully evaluated. The implementation of CASUS Learning Cases into the curriculum at the LMU (Ludwig-Maximilians-University) was a great success. Students were very satisfied with the technical facilities of the program and highly estimated the possibility to learn from concrete cases without the fear of making mistakes. An evaluation of more than 500sessions with CASUS showed that more than 95% of the users wanted to do more cases.
