Animation for the Web: Intermediate Flash 5.0, Building on the Beginners Knowledge of Flash

ABSTRACT:
This workshop will enable participants, who already have some knowledge and experience with Flash to create increasingly complex animations. The focus will be a more advanced hands-on exploration of Flash 5.0.
The afternoon session is limited to 15 participants (Windows Operating Systems). Participation in the morning session is not a requirement
Prerequisites: Basic experience with the Flash interface and familiarity with the use of the toolbox, panel sets, and object libraries is assumed.
The afternoon agenda consists of:
Customizing the Flash interface
Building interactivity
Using advanced drawing
Importing from other programs
Working with complex shapes
Introducing interactivity
Optimizing animations
Advanced publishing and exporting tips
Carlos A C Baptista MD PhD is an Assistant Professor at the Medical College of Ohio. Carlos earned a masters and doctorate in anatomy, as well as a medical degree; teaching responsibility includes human gross anatomy and pathophysiology. Carlos is a member of the Center for Creative Instruction and assists faculty in development of intranet content. Dr. Baptista designs and develops animations for his lectures in Human Structure and Development, and also creates web-based material to support the topic. Carlos is editor for a healthcare profession educational website.
Susan Batten RN PhD is the Associate Dean of the Undergraduate Program at Medical College of Ohio. Susan is a neonatal-perinatal clinical specialist who also earned a graduate degree in communications. In addition to teaching nursing, physician assistant and medical students,Susan develops animations and interactive course content for intranet and internet use. Susan is editor for the healthcare profession education website.
Valeri Craigle, BS is a Multimedia Production Artist with the Knowledge Weavers Team at the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library at the University of Utah. Valeris role with KW is multifaceted. She acts as a graphics/web designer, multimedia artist, and programmer. Valeri has developed several Flash animations for health sciences educators in the fields of neuroanatomy, nurse-midwifery, and cardiology. In addition to her work at the library, she has also earned a Bachelors degree in anthropology, acting as the principal anthropological consultant to the Utah State Medical Examiner.
