Welcome to the University of Toronto Surgical Skills Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to North America's foremost facility for Surgical Education. Our skills lab houses a number of high tech pieces of training equipment along with a sophisticated telecommunications system.

The Immersion Endoscopy Simulator is a revolutionary medical simulation platform that delivers realistic, procedure-based content for cognitive and motor skills training. The system consists of a PC, an interface device and software modules. Our module includes colonoscopy and bronchoscopy scenarios.

Laerdal's SimMan is a universal patient simulator designed for use as a tool in teaching psychomotor skills as well as cognitive and critical thinking pathways. It is manipulated via a Windows based interactive software package that controls such functions as ECG waveform and rate, NIPB, respiratory rate, temp, vocal sounds and much more.

The Hemes voice control interface is a speaker dependent voice recognition system that enables the surgeon to issue spoken commands to the Hermes Control centre. It works in conjunction with the Aesop robotic arm allowing the surgeon endoscopic scope movement via voice control.

Our Stryker telecommunications system is a 23 line ISDN multi point telconference system enabling long distance and internal bidirectional audio and video feeds. The system allows for real time video audio interaction for our multitude of educational sessions.

Come out and try your hand at some of these applications....

We will be sure to entertain you!
