International Panel on Lessons Learned and Directions for the Future of Interactive Learning

ABSTRACT:
This panel discussion will provide a forum for experts from 5 countries to share and interact with the audience. Their combined experiences represent over 60 collective years of developing, evaluating and integrating technology-based instruction into the curriculum.
The lessons learned in the past decade from 6 long-time developers of CBI and web-based instruction will offer conferees a unique, concentrated discussion of design, development, formative and summative evaluations, and strategies for integration into the curriculum including mistakes and successes of each panelist together with suggestions for future directions.
The panels expertise and focus includes:
Andrew Booth (Leeds University, UK):
Online learning - issues of acceptance by students and staff. Deploying online learning environments. Pedagogic and organizational issues. e-Tutoring and supporting online learners.
Rolf Attstrom (Sweden):
Lessons from a decade of designing, developing and using web-based teaching for dental education.
Martin Fischer (Germany):
The evolution, formative evaluation, and use of a user-friendly web based international authoring system (CASUS)
Christof Daetwyler (Switzerland):
Lessons learned in applying the five senses and the images and visions which they instill in designing and using multimedia for medical education
Klaus Maag (Germany)
Three European cross-disciplinary, multimedia projects with partners from Germany, Greece, Norway, Iceland, Italy and Sweden. A network was established for the use of information technology to promote distance learning education in Orthodontics.
Harold Lyon (USA- Moderator)
Sixteen years of multimedia development, integration in the curriculum, and evaluation in medical and patient education in the US and Germany.
