ABSTRACT
Applications used in preparing the multimedia tutorial included Macromedia Director 8.5, Flash 5, Adobe Photoshop 6.0, Adobe Premiere 6.0 and Crystal 3D. Our objective was to apply multimedia to the learning of the Video-Endoscopic Cholecystectomy. The user, whether pre-graduate or graduate, could familiarise themselves with the technology and pursue their interests at the appropriate level.
The user can navigate in an interesting and interactive way through the different topics according to their learning level. The format was designed to complement the training programs that exist in the University Hospitals of Cuba where the technique is taught. We created a format where the user travels from the consultation of static images to a test that permits the self-evaluation using a digital video that demonstrates the fundamental aspects of the procedure. The program includes the incorporation of new surgical techniques. It is therefore, a useful tool for demonstrating the importance of Multimedia in improving and updating teaching methods.
This presentation is also being submitted for the student software prize.
