MIDAS: The McMaster Interactive Database for Anatomical Studies

ABSTRACT:

The Visualization Design Institute of Sheridan College and McMaster University are developing a master plan to tackle the organization and implementation of new media to support problem-based learning at McMaster. One component in this database is the "learning module", the application of powerful new media to support the learning of complex subject matter.

To prototype the idea, we worked closely with McMaster's Anatomy Lab to create a 3-D animation of the Brachial Plexus. Experience indicated that students had difficulty understanding the interaction of the plexus.
