A multimedia case simulator for medical diagnosis according to the problem-oriented system was developed, which works on the personal computer without any special equipment. In this simulator, the history of the illness is presented with a voice and the physical findings are presented audiovisually according to the learner's order, which might be similar to the actual medical examination. The laboratory findings are also obtained at the learner's request. The student fills a database with information collected during the encounter, makes a problem list, and constructs the initial diagnostic plan for an important patient problem. This simulator might be useful for the medical students before going to the bedside, because they could learn the process of medical diagnosis through the problem-oriented system in the virtual multimedia environment without any restrictions on time, place, or medical costs.

BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:

Attendees will have a chance to see the way this simulator was constructed as well as a demonstration of the encounter. Comparison and discussion of this multimedia case simulator for medical diagnosis in a problem-oriented system will occur with the attendees.
