Radiology Test Bank: Incorporating Assessment in Basic Diagnostic Imaging

Linda Lanier, M.D., University of Florida College of Medicine
Presented by Jon Seymour, M.D., Gold Standard Multimedia

ABSTRACT:

Diagnostic Imaging plays a fundamental role in disease diagnosis and patient management in current medical practice. Accordingly, education in imaging is gradually becoming a part of the accepted medical curriculum. The types of offerings vary widely among institutions and include electives, required courses and 1-2 week clerkships given by radiologists as well as the integrated approach using clinically generated images in case presentations led by non-imaging faculty. The Radiology Test Bank is a library of questions in Diagnostic Imaging authored by faculty at Harvard Medical School and published by Gold Standard Multimedia. Faculty can use the library to generate an exam in Diagnostic Imaging, administer the exam using PowerPoint 2000 and to generate the grading tool. Presentation will center on the development of a curriculum incorporating diagnostic imaging and the use of the Radiology Test Bank to assess students.

BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION: Participants will be updated regarding the efforts to incorporate Diagnostic Imaging into the medical curriculum and to standardize the core material offered. They will observe the demonstration of a tool designed for assessment in diagnostic imaging that can be used in a variety of course formats.
