BREAKOUT SESSION

Web Interface Design for Health Sciences E-Learning

Marija Franetovic, Instructional Designer, College of Nursing, Wayne State University, Detroit, MI, USA

ABSTRACT:

Every time you create a Web site or use Web-based materials you are in fact creating an interface. An interface is important because it is what learners and fellow scientists first see and interact with upon entering your Web course or Web site. Browsing, media, metaphors, information, and usability are important for good interface design in e learning. A few Web examples will be presented with reasons why they might be categorized into good interface design. Then some selected interfaces of varying quality will be put up for the group to react to and comment on.

Participants are encouraged to bring one Web site URL with them to discuss with the other participants. You might even bring your own and see how the group responds to it. Remember we are a very candid but supportive group! A list of Web sites will be shared with the rest of the attendees.

BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:

After a very short demonstration, the participants will discuss together different approaches that make for successful Web interface design.
