ABSTRACT:

The CASUS learning system was built to enable clinicians to edit authentic cases without coding. Empirically evaluated successful support structures for both authors and learners were integrated into CASUS. The learning system provides unique user-friendliness for case authors: text pictures, sounds, and videos can be integrated into a case by simple drag and drop interaction. All cases are accessible through a standard web-browser from a relational database.

Since the authoring system ran under MacOS only, we initiated a complete redesign as a standalone Java-Application with enhanced features.

This software demonstration will present the newly created platform independent CASUS authoring system. Sample cases from various medical fields will be presented. Integration into the curriculum in different setting and at different Universities in Germany, USA, Brazil, and Israel has been initiated.

BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:

CASUS is a well-known system for case-based learning on the web. The new software overcomes platform-dependency and offers new features for a broad range of educational settings.
