How to Prepare Students for "Real Clinical Life"

Christof J Daetwyler
IML (Interactive Media Lab - Dartmouth College)

ABSTRACT:

Besides knowledge also skills and attitude are requested in order to work as a medical doctor. The programs demonstrated show how skills and attitude can be targeted by sophisticated programs.

BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:

Often people think that knowledge is it. Where physicians have to face real patients, knowledge is only part of what is needed in order to work as a physician - also mental alertness, skills and attitude are requested. I'll show programs that reflect these parts of medical skills as much as the knowledge. Programs presented will be - "Primary Care of the HIV / AIDS Patient" from the IML Dartmouth - "GENETICS Virtual Practicum" from the IML Dartmouth - "Neurology interactive" from the AUM Bern - "Headache interactive" from Christof Daetwyler - "The Elective Cardio Game" from R. Bonvin
