The McGill Electronic Curriculum - A Hands-on Demonstration

D. M. Fleiszer and N. Posel
McGill University

ABSTRACT:

During the last two years the Faculty of Medicine at McGill has worked on the development of an Electronic Curriculum. This work has involved two main foci: a) the reconfiguration of all existing word, WordPerfect and other electronic files, as well as all HTML sites to XML, and b) the creation and integration of multimedia images (defined as illustrations, electronic transparencies, animations, videotapes and audio files) within individual lectures.

This work has taken place concurrently. The demonstration will allow interested parties to access and navigate the current Electronic Curriculum as well as discuss the impact of the technology on the pedagogical construct and teaching and learning within the school. In addition, McGill has actively supported student participation and will allow access to the many student projects that have been developed and which are now tied to the curriculum.

BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:

Many schools are developing electronic curricula. This demonstration will allow interested colleagues to review and explore McGill's work and possibly share their interests and efforts.
