PRE-WORKSHOP
QuickTime Player Pro as a Digital Media Authoring Tool
Eric Carlson and Paul E. Burrows, Media Solutions, KUED, University of Utah
Lecture/Demo. Half Day. Some experience with video editing or web delivery would be helpful, but not required. Limited to 25.
ABSTRACT:
Whether working with a Windows or Macintosh computer, most think of the QuickTime Player as a way to view digital movies. It is much more than that, especially for content developers. With the professional upgrade of the QuickTime Player (US$30), you suddenly have a powerful editing and authoring tool for digital media. The presenters will illustrate the manipulation of various data tracks, while showing how the QuickTime Player can fix movies, even after they have been compressed for CD-ROM or World Wide Web distribution. Examples of movies with interactive tracks will also be shown with the purpose of examining the track layering capabilities of QuickTime Player Pro.
BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:
Full fledged nonlinear editing systems, although less expensive than in previous years, still have substantial learning curves. If your video editing needs are simple and you need to add or subtract video, audio, text, and graphics from digital movies, then the QuickTime Player Pro editing capabilities may be just the right tool.
