Developing e-Curricula - Issues, Challenges and Solutions
Facilitated by: Dr. David Fleiszer and Ms. Nancy Posel, McGill University Faculty of Medicine, Montreal, Canada
An opportunity for attendees from diverse areas to share ideas and experiences and learn from and with each other. Hopefully, the session will enhance the possibility of ongoing dialogue and potential future collaborative efforts.
ABSTRACT:
An informal round-table discussion reviewing a) the challenges involved in coordinating a project (The Molson Project at McGill University). The McGill experience and the group focus will deal with:
• integrating multimedia technology within an existing curriculum, including required resources and the work processes involved (in a comprehensive, resource efficient manner).
• the underlying pedagogical principles and potential implications of moving in this direction (involving participants with a strong background in education).
• research that has been, or should be, done in this area, including feedback and reports of ongoing formative and summative evaluations from students and faculty.
• moving the focus from the technology (we know we can) towards the conceptual (now that we can, we have a bigger responsibility).
We will end by asking the group, "how do we move the focus from the technology towards the larger conceptual issues".
BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:
Many schools are developing electronic curricula, This pre-workshop will allow participants from diverse areas to share ideas and experiences and learn from and with each other. In addition, communication will enhance the possibility of ongoing dialogue and potential future collaborative efforts.
