ABSTRACT:
We will demonstrate multimedia CD-ROM (in English and in Russian) which was developed in order of optimization of learning basics of diagnostic techniques in therapy. It uses interactive combination of hypertext, video, audio, animation, images, schemes, tables and examination tests.
The basic structure consists of hypertext that reflects algorithm of patient’s investigation to reveal symptoms of pathological changes of internal organs. Diagnostic methods are described in classic scheme, including general inspection, investigation of respiratory system, cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal tract, organs of excretion and blood system. Each chapter is dedicated to the corresponding system of the organs. The most significant aspects are highlighted in the text with mobile icon denoted “Nota Bene!”.
The medical diagnostic techniques are described and illustrated with a great number of original photos, schemes, pictures and tables (more than 700 totally), that are demonstrated as a slide-show to each screen. The medical terms used can be clarified in glossary containing about 3000 terms. CD-ROM contains characteristic of the most practically important syndromes in pulmonology, cardiology, gastroenterology, nephrology and hematology.
The multimedia product contains video fragments in details illustrating methods of patient’s examination. Total video length is more than 90 min. It is important, that technique of visual examination, palpation, percussion and auscultation of the patient is followed with correct and full formulation of results. The distinctive feature of this product is complex use of text, describing the subject, and illustrational materials, video and audio, that increases learning potential of the course.
Motion of organs (heart, lungs) is synchronized with audio phenomenon and their graphic imaging. This is the method we used to present data about cardiac abnormalities and pulmonary pathology. User can manually change duration of audio presentation and use step-by-step presentation of complicated material.
User can examine himself by the special tests (about 800) that are aimed at verification of level of learning of the separate chapters and examining user on the whole course. Knowledge rating can be seen after any number of the questions answered. System has function of question’s mixing.
The program contains universal template of the case history. Every history can be saved to any disk in a computer as a rather convenient RTF document (floppy disk, memory card etc.)
BENEFIT TO
PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:
