ABSTRACT:
We have developed a prototype multimedia case simulator for medical diagnosis. Now we are trying to make the template for this purpose. The simulator works on a personal computer without any special equipment. The history of the present illness is presented by voice and the physical findings are presented audiovisually according to the learner's request, which may be similar to the actual medical examination. The laboratory findings are also obtained at the learner's request. The learner fills a database with requested information, makes a problem list and constructs an initial diagnostic plan for the patient's most important problem. During the demonstration, several new models of the simulator equipped with more visual information from the physical examination will be shown as part of our project for making a simulator template.
BENEFIT TO
PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:
Attendees will have a chance to see the simulator. An exchange through discussion of ideas will further clarify the design of the multimedia case simulator for medical diagnosis in a problem-oriented curriculum.
