Warren E. Ross, M.D., is
Annenberg Dean of Drexel University’s College of Medicine. In 1999 he was charged with the task of
rebuilding the MCP Hahnemann University’s School of Medicine financially and
academically as it prepared for its merger with Drexel University.
Dean Ross has over 20 years
of progressive management experience from directing patient care, education,
and research teams to administrative leadership positions within the academic health
center setting. He was a faculty member
in the Departments of Medicine and Pharmacology at the University of Florida
College of Medicine for ten years, where he practiced medical oncology,
directed a large anti-cancer drug development program, and received numerous
teaching awards. He then served as
Associate Vice President of Hospital Affairs and Director of the J. Graham
Brown Cancer Center at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. Later he returned to the University of
Florida College of Medicine as Executive Associate Dean and Chief Executive
Officer of the University’s Shands Clinic.
His principal responsibility was for strategy for the College’s clinical
activities, as well as operational responsibility for ambulatory care. He was next appointed Chief Executive Officer
of the University of Florida Health System where he had responsibility for
strategic planning, network expansion and managed care strategy for hospitals
and physicians. After briefly serving as
CEO of ML Strategies, a Boston-based healthcare consulting firm, Dr. Ross
joined MCP Hahnemann University as Dean of the medical school in February 1999.
After receiving his
undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Florida, Dean Ross
completed his Internship and Residency in the Department of Medicine at North
Carolina Memorial Hospital, University of North Carolina. He later served as a medical oncology fellow
at the National Cancer Institute.
Dean Ross is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Association for Cancer Research and the American Federation for Clinical Research. He is the author of over 70 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
