Joseph V. Henderson M.D. and Christof Daetwyler, M.D., IML
(Interactive Media Lab) Dartmouth College, Lebanon, New Hampshire, USA
ABSTRACT:
In this demo we will
bring the most recent "Virtual Practicum" Programs to your attention.
In these programs, a variety of learning experiences promote the comprehensive
understanding of complex clinical topics. Interactive simulated patients, case
discussions, and interviews with real patients and lectures are brought
together under the guidance of mentors who are expert clinicians and
teachers. This is all done with the
intense use of multimedia, especially movies and animations. The core of the
program consists of several simulated patients with whom the learner has
several encounters. It's not only about gathering information to reach the
correct diagnosis, it's also about understanding the patient's specific situations
and deciding what and how information is best given to them.
"Genetics in
Clinical Practice: A Team Approach" received the 2002 EMMA Award for
eLearning 18+
BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:
