ABSTRACT:

We developed an electronic educational system in cardiology based on the challenge to provide systematic information on Arrhythmia to medical students and physicians

It is a cooperative project between the Department of Internal of Medicine C and the Institute of Informatics Medicine and Biomathematics at the University of Muenster Germany.

The system is divided into 6 main structures: Introduction to the programs, Diagnosis of Arrhythmia, Results of clinical studies, Information for the patients and Interesting Links associated with arrhythmia.

Before starting this project we studied other programs on arrhythmia which serve as support links. Most do not provide information according to the latest diagnosis, nor are they structurally divided into our classification with definition, causes, and method of diagnosis by ECG-finding, clinical signs, and therapy.

This electronic education system is part of medical learning system at the University of Muenster. Mrs. Osada lectures on ecological courses for medical students and PhD-students.   One of the problems is the challenge to maintain the supported links. Ideally it should be done automatically. To achieve this we cooperated with colleagues at the University of Essen, Germany. It is bound within a learning resource server. In this server each instructional system is specified by an IMS Learning Resource Meta-Data standard ( http://www.imsproject.org/metadata/index.cfm ).

The main advantage of connecting to this resource center is that the learning system and its supported links are more widely spread.

BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:

As an introduction to an instructional system and its presentation in meta-data specification in one Internet portal in Arrhythmia (Cardiology). The analysis of supported links give information of other web-sites connected with this theme
