BREAKOUT SESSION
Live Video Encoding - Broadcasting - Streaming
Derek Cowan
ABSTRACT:
A brief introduction
to current and previous solutions implemented by the Eccles Health Sciences
Library for production and delivery of live encoded video over the Internet.
Discussion of equipment required for streaming live events such as lectures,
seminars, and conferences with an emphasis on portability and flexibility.
Hardware and software alternatives in this field are enormous and changing
rapidly, with turnkey format-specific solutions demanding big dollars without
the flexibility needed to encode and capture a broad range of formats with
archival quality. Those who have done it themselves or are looking to
experiment should be able to provide welcome feedback and new angles.
BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:
For all those
interested in, or have experience with live video production for streaming over
the Internet. Current solutions, portability, and budget considerations are the
major topics.
