ABSTRACT:
CASUS is a software
package for authoring and delivering case-based learning based on a pedagogical
concept developed by the AG Medizinische Lernprogramme at the University of
Munich beginning in 1993. The current CASUS system is completely web-based and
consists of the following main components:
- Authoring tool for
creating cases including multimedia material, interactive elements and the
differential diagnostic network. - Player to work through cases or review a
case with the ability to enter comments on each card.
- Course
administrator tool offers the instructor the ability to create and manage
courses with access to evaluation data of the students in the course.
- Evaluation server
to create individual online questionnaires.
The latest
developments include a new powerful meta-data system with individual diagnosis
lists. For quality assurance we introduced a detailed system for student
feedback and a new online review system.
BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:
We will give you an
overview about the CASUS case-based learning system and show all new software
exemplifying the cases developed by the CLIPP project at Dartmouth Medical
School (USA). Moreover we will highlight the most important points learned
during our long experience in developing e-learning software and content.
