University of Utah School of Medicine, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

ABSTRACT:

Medical faculty is constantly looking for improved methods to author and distribute course content. The dermatology course at the University of Utah School of Medicine is the first short course (one week) to provide the curriculum in TK3 format for the second year medical students. The demonstration includes the following TK3 eBook features: text, digital images, audio, video, sticky notes, bookmarks, personal notations and links to Internet resources if connected. The authors welcome questions regarding transporting content to this new format. In addition, the eBook can be used in lecture instead of PowerPoint and can be distributed electronically to students ahead of time instead of a paper syllabus. Formative evaluation data collected at the end of the week of use will be available.

BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:

The demonstration will provide attendees with an example of a TK3 eBook on a Medical topic, as well as the opportunity to gain a perspective on the technological innovations the eBook offers for educational content delivery. (Night Kitchen, NY; http://www.nightkitchen.com/). TK3 eBook possesses great promise for both medical faculty/educators and students because of the ability to create and publish multimedia content.
