POSTER

The use of Logician EMR and Tablet Computers in the Inpatient Setting

Thomas Mohr, D.O.

Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, East Lansing, Michigan, USA

ABSTRACT:

The MSU Health Team has been implementing the Logician Electronic Medical Records system in their medical clinics using wireless tablet computers. While this system has worked extremely well in the outpatient setting, its s utility in the inpatient venue has not yet been explored. The project team has been developing forms and content for an inpatient version of Logician to use in a hospital with wireless connectivity. This program should increase the efficiency of house staff, improve education by having information readily available at the point of service, reduce medical errors, and decrease costs associated with improper coding.

BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:

The participant will have the opportunity to work with our tablet computers and test the inpatient Logician program. The user will have the opportunity to investigate the benefits of such a program in patient care, education, error reduction, and cost containment.
