Anatomica: New Frontiers in Anatomy Teaching Software

Mark Nielsen and Nephi Walton

University of Utah

ABSTRACT:

What if it was possible to easily create classroom presentations and lectures that allowed you to use excellent illustrations, the highest quality photos, and exceptional 3-D models of all the bones, ligaments, and muscles of the body? Furthermore, what if this visual material was accompanied by thorough textual information that could be rapidly accessed with an outstanding search engine. In addition to this, what if it was possible to make any adjustments to your preplanned presentation easily on the fly during the middle of your lecture? And how about testing? What if any kind of test, both fully visual or written, multiple choice or fill in the blank, could be created easily and administered to students over the web? Now it is possible with Anatomica and that is only part of what this new software technology can do. How about a microscope lab, full capabilities to zoom and rotate illustrations, photos, and 3-D models, and your own drawing and labeling tools. Come and see the possibilities available to you with Anatomica.

BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:

It will provide materials and tools to produce powerful visuals for making lectures, presentations, and tests for anatomy in a very time efficient manner.
