  • Respiratory
    - Slight or no depression of the response to carbon dioxide has been reported with 50% N20
    - The response to hypoxia is reduce when 50% nitrous oxide is given alone (35-50% N20 produce a 65% decreased response).
    - Summary: In point of fact, generally the effects of nitrous oxide on ventilatory drive are small. A concentration of not less than 30% is wise; therefore, not more than 70% nitrous oxide should be employed.
