Our first stop is the Brandywine River Museum, housed in a renovated Civil-war era grist mill. Explore the museum's impressive collection of American art, including landscapes, still lifes, illustrations, and a large collection of works by the Wyeth family. Then browse the museum shop for books, posters, reproductions and unique gifts…or stroll through wild flower gardens on the banks of the Brandywine River. Next, our journey takes us to beautiful Longwood Gardens, the world's premier horticultural display. Marvel at the exotic plants and everlasting blooms in the conservatory. Roam through acres of outdoor gardens filled with exquisite flowers, sparkling fountains, and gorgeous waterplatters. Tour the historic Peirce-du Pont House, and explore the Idea Garden, Chimes Tower, Topiary Garden, Rose Garden and souvenir shop at your leisure. Then it's time for a delicious meal…dine in the Longwood Gardens Café or bask in the late afternoon sun on the adjoining patio. We'll feast on soup, salad, your choice of a pasta, meat, or fish entrée, tantalizing desserts and refreshing beverages, including beer or wine. As the sun sets on a perfect summer day, we'll relax to the sounds of an alfresco classical music concert. Symphonic Swing…& all that Jazz!—a 100th birthday tribute to Duke Ellington and hits by Glenn Miller—will be performed by the Kennett Symphony of Chester County with the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors. And finally, colorful fountain displays will light up the night sky, providing a magical end to a memorable day. Don't miss this unforgettable event!
