Welcome and welcome back to another stimulating semester at the University of Utah!
Please join us for Open House on Thursday, September 26.
Over the course of the last year, the Eccles Health Sciences Library has undergone many changes with our Seismic Retrofit. We re-opened the Reading Room in the Spring, we built new bookshelves, the front desk has moved multiple times, and various areas have been intermittently closed. I want to express my deep gratitude to the faculty, staff, and patrons of the library, who have endured these changes for the greater good of creating a safer building for the long-term.
In addition to construction excitement, I would like to highlight accomplishments from faculty and staff within the library:
The Interlibrary Loan Department fulfilled a request from the White House’s Presidential Library in June. The article that was requested praised University of Utah Health and the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
Our Technology Engagement Librarian, Brandon Patterson, was named a Martha Bradley Evans Teachings Fellow.
Christy Jarvis, Associate Director of Scholarly Communications, has made it possible for Utah-licensed physicians to retrieve full-text articles from PubMed without encountering a publisher paywall.
We also welcomed a new Public Services Library Aide, Audrey Pozernick to the library.
If you want to read more about Brandon, Christy, and Audrey, individual articles about them are available on our blog.
Warm regards,
