Remote Access to Web Resources

Off-campus or remote access to the University Network is available for the Univeristy of Utah community. All faculty, students and staff are eligible.

Eccles Library expands and promotes online access to valuable resources through the library's website at http://library.med.utah.edu/. Most electronic resources purchased by the Library require a license agreement with the publisher, or supplier. These resources include scholarly databases, such as the Cochrane Library and CINAHL; full text journals or books. The Library makes every effort to purchase campus wide licenses for electronic resources. However, some resources are restricted to on-campus access.

• Health Sciences Center students, staff & faculty with Health Sciences account
  • Use the UUHSC Remote Access to Applications Portal.
  • Log in with your Health Sciences account .
  
  
• All University of Utah students, staff & faculty:
  • Step 1:   Activate your uNID (University Network ID)
    • via the Campus Information System.
    • For uNID assistance, please contact the Campus Help Desk at 581-4000.
    
    
  • Step 2:   Access the University Network any one of following ways:
    • Web VPN
      Use in conjunction with an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
      No software required. Log in with your uNID and password. Type in a university website to access licensed materials. The Web VPN works only for viewing Web pages (via http.) Read about WebVPN.
    • VPN Client
      Use in conjunction with an Internet Service Provider (ISP) to establish a Virtual Private Network, VPN.
      Once downloaded and installed onto your computer, log in with your UNID & password for access to University of Utah Internet resources. Recommended for fast, secure network access. VPN client securely connects your laptop to the library's wireless network.
      • Test your VPN connection.
    • TProxy
      Use in conjunction with an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
      Note: Most library resources are available through the T-proxy. Try the VPN if you have difficulties.
    • Dial-up to the UU modem pool. Note: A connection limit of 3 hours total connect-time over the last 7 days of usage.
      • The modem numbers are:
        • 801-924-0783 - for 90 minute connection time.
        • 801-924-0639 - for 15 minute connection time.
    
    
  • Step 3:   Connect to University of Utah licensed electronic resources at:
    • Eccles Health Science Library
    • Marriott Library
    • Campus Help Desk
    • ITS Computer Support Health Sciences Intranet only.
    • Web-based Email
