Yeah, we’re almost there! Since 2023, the Eccles Health Sciences Library has been undergoing a seismic retrofit, and right next to us, construction of the new School of Medicine has been taking place.

On the inside, patrons have noticed temporary walls go up, come down, and go up.
The seismic retrofit is now complete, and the construction team has moved onto the
core renovation. In the next few months, we can expect to have new bathrooms on
every level of the library. The new elevators are already in place and will open any day.
The old elevator, original to the building, has serviced the library for over 54 years, and will finally be retired when the new elevators are operating.
Another exciting element to look forward to is an underground walkway that connects the library to the new school of medicine. On the library side, patrons will be greeted by cozy booths and new study rooms. This spring, the construction team will demolish the old bathrooms and turn them into these new study rooms.
On the outside, the new School of Medicine has taken shape. Full completion is set for Summer 2026.
Concurrently, the old School of Medicine is getting demolished. You can read more about the original School of Medicine here.
