Director's Welcome

Catherine B. Soehner Welcome to the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library and to its affiliates, the Hope Fox Eccles Health Library. Whether you are accessing the libraries from your office, home or mobile device, or if you are physically using our campus spaces, we welcome you to explore the many information resources and services at your fingertips. The libraries' faculty and staff are honored to assist you as you discover the many terrific ways to retrieve, analyze and store what you need to be effective at your job or with your learning.

Some of our most popular offerings include thousands of electronic journals, accessible 24/7, a variety of research databases and access to other library collections through our interlibrary loan service. Our Library Catalog is the master tool to find items the library makes available. In addition, we teach curricular classes, classes upon request, and offer personalized consultations. Our Ask a Librarian page offers immediate access to library support via chat and provides alternate methods of contacting us for help or partnership. Browse our many digital publishing & collections including HEAL and NOVEL. As you can see by exploring our site, we provide news via our front page as well as our blog. We provide even more up to date information via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. We inform you of what's new, special events, tips on using electronic resources, as well as highlights of key services.

One of our many goals is to create partnerships on campus to improve education, research, and patient care. For example, we collaborate with the Center for Clinical & Translational Science to provide a Systematic Review Core to provide assistance to perform high-quality evidence synthesis projects. We work with departments and faculty throughout the Health campus to develop unique projects and collections, including the Moran CORE (with the Moran Eye Center), SlideViewer (with Neurobiology & Anatomy), and the Research with Diverse Populations digital textbook (with the School of Nursing and the Marriott Library ). Contact us to see how we can help you.

Through a distributed model, we serve as the regional medical library for the MidContinental Region of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine for the states of Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Utah, and Wyoming.

Feel free to consider the libraries your home away from home, and let us know how we can help you. There are several ways you can send us suggestions — and even chat with us in real time or just give me a call. We look forward to hearing from you and being partners in your educational, research, administrative or patient care endeavors. Make us your most trusted source of quality health information!
