Overview

Keely Mruk completed her MA in US History at the University of Utah in the spring of 2022. In addition to her work with the School of Medicine there, she researched for the HIV/AIDS Oral History Archive under Dr. Elizabeth Clement and the Century of Black Mormons Project under Dr. Paul Reeve. Her research interests include science, medicine, and technology in the 20th century United States, with a particular focus on nonhuman relationships and the built environment. She is continuing her studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Medical Research and Education (531) Building

Keely participated with a project management team that was charged with documenting the history of the Medical Research Education Building and the School of Medicine before they are demolished. She worked with Eccles Health Sciences Library to research content throughout the University, local newspapers, and Archives West to find the stories and details of building these facilities that were magnificent in their day. This project required detailed history, photos, and specific deliverables for the State Historical Preservation Office. It was funded by the Office of the Senior Vice President of Health Sciences and managed by a partnership between Eccles Health Sciences Library and the America West Center.
